1st Early Career Network (ECN) Seminar

The first seminar for Doctoral Researchers and Post-doctoral Researchers was held on Teams on Friday, June 6th 2025. It was led by prof. Nathan Lillie. The seminar will be held at least twice a semester, maybe more often depending on how often the attendees wish to meet. During the seminar, early career researchers’ research plans, article drafts etc. will be presented, discussed and commented on. Advisors and research supervisors are expected to join the meetings when applicable. Early career researchers can network, collaborate and get valuable feedback on their research.

The aim and structure of the ECN seminars were discussed and decided on. Everyone introduced themselves and presented their research topics and/or preliminary research plans. Each presentation was discussed and commented on. Literary sources were exchanged.

Some ideas about ECN activities were shared, such as starting a book club, where everyone would read theory/methodology publications and then Teams meeting is held to discuss about the readings together.

Other activities and meeting topics can and will be discussed and decided in the Fall of 2025, as the ECN seminars get fully started. The dates and times for the Fall meetings were decided on.

The seminar has been attended by Sarah Tornberg (JYU), Nathan Lillie (JYU), Zamzam Elmi (JYU/LUT), Louis Lines (CU), Mar Dieste Campo (University of Zaragoza). Early Career Network consists of doctoral researchers and post-docs directly working in the EGRUiEN project, as well as researchers with thematically similar research topics.
