FUTOURWORK, EGRUiEN and INTEGRATE-DIALOGUE invite policymakers, social partners and industry representatives to a webinar on the EU Platform Work Directive on Wednesday 6th May

Do you work on labour policy, social dialogue, or worker representation? Are you responsible for the implementation of the new EU Platform Work Directive?

Join our webinar, co-hosted with fellow Horizon Europe projects FUTOURWORK and INTEGRATE-DIALOGUE, where together we’ll explore how increasing platform work is transforming workers’ rights and social dialogue in different sectors across Europe.

This free event will deepen your understanding of what the Directive means for workers and social dialogue in practice, and inform your thinking as implementation gets underway.

It’s a chance to learn about the critical evidence and solutions all three research projects are working towards, designed to help social partners, policymakers and industry navigate the transition effectively. Presentations will also reflect on whether new legislation goes far enough and who still risks being left out.

The webinar will end with a Q&A with our researchers, ensuring space for your questions at this pivotal moment for EU work policy.

Register now to join us from 11am to 12:30pm WEST (UTC+1) on Wednesday 6th May.

A detailed agenda will be released in due course. You can expect a presentation from each project touching on their areas of research:

FUTOURWORK is dedicated to improving the wellbeing of tourism and hospitality workers through enhanced social dialogue. This is a sector where platform labour practices are deepening existing issues, such as gender inequality and unpredictable contracts, with profound impacts on working conditions and wellbeing – especially for marginalised workers who make up a significant proportion of the workforce. FUTOURWORK will share what research reveals about these challenges within tourism and hospitality, what the role of social dialogue is under both the Platform Work Directive and AI Act, and how to address gaps in the legislation.

INTEGRATE-DIALOGUE investigates the conditions for social dialogue in business models that predominately have non-standard workers as a strategy, such as digital platforms. One of the project’s central questions is what interests and motivations non-standard workers have in joining unions. Their presentation will share insights from their research focusing on both the role of social partners and unions to include these workers and the workers’ needs to be represented and have a voice.

EGRUiEN analyses the ability of Europe’s social dialogue institutions to navigate labour market transformations during the ongoing green and digital transitions, to protect workers within (or from) non-standard forms of employment and ensure socially and economically just outcomes. They will provide scientifically based guidance on how social dialogue institutions can be designed to guide societies through fundamental transformations, including the rise of new sectors, and the growth of new forms of work.
